Once upon a "who really reads this anyway", we decided that instead of writing a whole heap of inspiring corporate jargon, we’d tell you how Mini-Epic really came about. Mistakes included.
Having originally launched in 2016 with a range of video invitations for hen and stag parties, the ambition was to make invitations as exciting as the party they’re intended for. After all, the invitation sets the tone for what's to come!
However, despite our best efforts, it was clear within six months of launching that it wasn't going to be the roaring success we had hoped for. The feeling of dread came over us as we came to the realisation that all our hard work was most likely going to end up as another failed startup story, and the motivation to keep trying was evaporating fast.
It was at that very moment of realisation that our twin daughters, no doubt sensing our sombre mood and brave faces, made a simple yet inspiring request, to create an animated invitation for their birthday party.
At first we couldn’t believe we hadn't thought of children's invitations ourselves. After all, we have two of them right in front of us on a daily basis, and we’ve been to around thirty parties a year since they were three (now seven). But sometimes the answer is right in front of you and you just need someone to point it out. And point it out they did!
We sat around the kitchen table together and asked them what they wanted their invitation to look like. They started sketching ideas down and described how they saw things being animated until we settled on 3 key elements. It had to include rainbows somewhere, be cute, and have their photograph in.
We sent their invitation out a few weeks later and the response was incredible. So much so that twelve months later we relaunched Mini-Epic primarily for children’s parties.
Our ambition to make invitations as exciting as the party is as powerful now as it was when we first started Mini-Epic, only this time round we have the pleasure of working with two of the most creative and inspiring people we know….Each other. Just kidding…Our daughters!
Here's to an epic party!
